Elektrogas VMH Automatic Safety Valve

Elektrogas VMH Automatic Safety Valve | Safety Shut Off Valves

The VMH type valve is a safety shut-off valve for gas with hydraulic actuation. Suitable for air or gas blocking and release controls, it's designed for main pipelines in gas power burners, atmospheric gas boilers, industrial kilns, and other gas-consuming appliances. When energized, the valve opens slowly (over several seconds) and closes immediately upon power interruption. Refer to Tab. 2 for maximum operative pressures per model.

Functioning and Application

The VMH valve operates as a safety shut-off device requiring auxiliary power. When de-energized, a spring forces the sealing disc closed. In this state, pressurized gas in the inlet chamber enhances the seal against the disc.

During activation, the relief valve closes and hydraulic pumps pressurize oil to drive the piston. The disc opens against combined spring and gas pressure forces. At full open position, pumps deactivate with only the relief valve consuming power.

Power interruption opens the relief valve, causing rapid disc closure and gas flow interruption. Figure 1 illustrates the VMH valve mechanism, typically installed in gas trains for industrial and combustion systems. Figure 2 demonstrates a typical installation with complementary Elektrogas devices.
